What You Will Experience on a Couples Intensive

 A Structured, Guided Process
You’ll be guided through a focused process that helps you understand what makes a relationship truly work—and how to sustain it. We explore not just communication, but how to build emotional safety, empathy, and co-regulation.

Tools for Deep Connection
Through verbal, nonverbal, and somatic exercises, you’ll learn how to open your heart, express your truth, and listen with compassion. These practices foster emotional intimacy, trust, and mutual understanding.

Time to Integrate & Connect
The intensive format gives you dedicated time to reflect, integrate, and reconnect away from everyday distractions. You’ll have space both within and around the sessions to rest, talk, and be together with intention.

Ongoing Support
Your journey doesn’t end after the intensive. Follow-up sessions are included to help you integrate what you’ve learned, support change over time, and address challenges as they arise.

Most couples therapy focuses on solving surface-level problems. This work goes deeper.

At the heart of every relationship challenge are unmet needs, unconscious patterns, and stories that began long before you met. In your Couples Intensive, we address the root—not just the symptoms—so that change becomes sustainable.

This is not about blame or fixing the other. It’s about creating a new relational field: one grounded in mutual respect, emotional truth, and embodied love.

You will be supported to:

  • Discover the unconscious patterns shaping your relationship.

  • Rebuild emotional and physical intimacy in a safe, attuned space.

  • Recognise where survival strategies are blocking closeness.

  • Develop skills in relational repair, presence, and listening.

  • Begin to co-create a relationship that reflects who you are now—not just where you’ve come from.

This is transformational work, held in a compassionate, skilled, and sacred space.

What to Expect: A Sample Couples Intensive Schedule

Each Couples Intensive is uniquely tailored to your needs, but here is an illustration of how your healing retreat may unfold:

Friday Afternoon – Arrival & Opening Session
You’ll arrive and settle into your accommodation, allowing time to decompress from the week. We begin with an initial session on Friday evening—an opportunity to connect, clarify your intentions, and gently prepare for the deeper work ahead. Afterwards, enjoy a restorative dinner. Highgate offers many excellent restaurants and cozy spots to unwind, or you may choose to venture into London’s West End.

Saturday – Deep Dive into Relational Patterns
10:00am – 11:15am
We begin the day with practices that enhance emotional safety and connection. You’ll explore your communication styles—both verbal and nonverbal—and begin to identify the dynamics that are most challenging in your relationship.

11:30am – 1:00pm
We look beneath the surface. You’ll begin to unpack the deeper roots of recurring patterns—whether unmet needs, attachment wounding, or emotional impasses. With support, you’ll learn how to express difficult emotions, listen with compassion, and interrupt cycles of blame or withdrawal.

1:00pm – 1:30pm – Lunch Break
This is a time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. You might visit the Scandinavian antique café “Quarters,” explore the charm of Highgate Village, or take a walk together. I’ll also take this time to review our work and refine the afternoon’s direction.

1:30pm – 2:30pm
This session turns toward your shared story. Together, we revisit your relationship’s journey—where you’ve come from, where pain still lives, and what you most long for now. This is a time for heartfelt truth-telling and visioning.

2:45pm – 4:00pm
We focus on emotional discord—those undercurrents of anger, criticism, or distance that erode connection. We’ll work with the unmet needs beneath those emotions, helping you restore communication and rediscover each other as allies rather than opponents.

Sunday – Integration & Transformation
10:00am – 4:00pm (with breaks)
The final day is structured in response to your specific needs and the themes that have emerged. We may explore embodied practices, reparative dialogue, conflict healing, or intimacy reconnection—whatever best serves your next steps.

Follow-up sessions are also included to support you in applying insights and sustaining the changes you’ve begun.

Before your intensive, we begin with a consultation session to explore what brings you to the work, clarify your intentions, and answer any questions you may have. This is followed by individual sessions with each partner and a brief intake questionnaire. These steps allow me to understand your relationship history, family dynamics, and personal experiences that may be influencing the present.

This thoughtful preparation ensures your intensive is uniquely tailored to your needs as a couple. It also gives each of you space to be heard individually before we come together to do the deeper work.

Love is a powerful force that inevitably brings to the surface the parts of ourselves we try to keep hidden. In a close relationship, the light of love also casts a shadow—unmet needs, buried pain, unconscious patterns. The closer we get to someone, the more likely we are to encounter the shadow in ourselves and each other.

Many people blame relationship problems on a lack of love or compatibility. In truth, it is often the intensity of love that reveals unresolved wounds and developmental pain. This is where transformation begins.

In your Couples Intensive, you will be invited to explore the shadow aspects of your relationship with compassion and courage. Through a combination of embodied dialogue, reflective exercises, and guided awareness, we work to:

  • Recognise unconscious patterns that sabotage intimacy

  • Transform guilt, shame, and projection into insight

  • Reclaim personal power and emotional authenticity

  • Explore authentic communication grounded in presence and truth

  • Understand how unacknowledged parts of the self shape relational dynamics

This sacred process supports the integration of the shadow as a source of creative energy, emotional depth, and spiritual awakening. It is not about fixing the other person—it’s about learning to meet the parts of ourselves that show up in the presence of love.

For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof. The work for which all other work is but a preparation.

FAQ

How do we know if an intensive is right for us?

If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or at a crossroads in your relationship—but still have a desire to heal, grow, or understand each other more deeply—an intensive offers the space and focus you need. Whether you’re in crisis or seeking to strengthen your bond, this is a safe, supported container for meaningful transformation.

That’s perfectly okay. Many couples come unsure about the future. The intensive doesn’t assume a particular outcome—it offers clarity, emotional honesty, and compassionate exploration. Together, we create a space where truth can emerge and decisions can be made from a grounded place.

Big emotions often surface when we touch on deeper wounds. This work is trauma-informed and held with care. You’ll be supported every step of the way with grounding tools, somatic awareness, and compassionate guidance. The process is paced to ensure safety, not overwhelm.

Unlike weekly sessions, a Couples Intensive offers uninterrupted space for deep dives, breakthroughs, and healing. Aisha blends psychotherapy, energy work, somatic practices, and relational intelligence to get to the heart of what’s really going on. It’s not about quick fixes—it’s about lasting change.

Not at all. This work is for any couple committed to exploring their connection — whether you’ve been together six months or twenty years.

No. Some couples come unsure of whether to stay. The work supports clarity, healing, and truth — whatever your next step.

These intensives go deeper. They offer a level of focus, presence, and integration that weekly therapy often can’t. Many couples say one weekend shifted more than years of sessions.

Absolutely. All relationships are welcome here — across gender, culture, and structure. What matters most is your willingness to show up with openness and care.
